S&K Global Solutions is a key technical services provider for the Corps of Engineers in the North Pacific Division, including the Portland District and Seattle District. Our work addresses upgrading of the computerized control system at several Seattle District Dams with updated computer aided drafting (CAD) drawings and installation support. SKGS also provides help desk and computer support for users in the Portland District.

Computer aided drafting (CAD) duties include converting hardcopy drawings to electronic format using MicroStation CAD software, modifying raster files, duplicates, and as-built documentation of current systems and configurations. This work requires checking of CAD drawings against source documentation as well as against hardware located in the dam itself. Discrepancies are also checked with on-site technical experts

In addition, S&K Global Solutions utilizes professional engineering skills to complete the installation of plant upgrades. These duties include:

  • Generate work orders that include preparation of preliminary designs, drafting of technical specifications for the purchase of material and smaller items of equipment and their installation.
  • Prepare preliminary engineering justifications, design studies, and cost estimates on specific projects.
  • Develop working drawings and list of equipment and material.
  • Collect data, perform field test, analyze results, and perform technical calculations with respect to power plant equipment to determine adequacy and or reasons for malfunctions to equipment.
  • Develop detail installation plans and schedules for equipment installation and coordinate resourcing with appropriate staffing elements at the plant.

In the Portland District, over 1400 users rely on S&K Global Solutions technicians for the smooth operation of computer hardware, software, and LAN connectivity. Help desk support is provided via phone and email while a ticket system monitors activity from problem to solution. Software issues are resolved with advanced levels of analytical support and range between Microsoft Office Suites and Operating Systems, basic software install and uninstall functionality, and various Corp applications. S&K Global Solutions resolves issues regarding the functionality of computer hardware and peripheral equipment. Our technicians also configure TCP/IP settings, establish network connections, and work with other Corp employees to resolve more complex LAN issues.
